Friday Mar 08, 2019
Friday Mar 08, 2019
In this show we take on a refreshing new production of Joe Penhall's modern classic 'Blue/Orange' by way of a conversation with director Daniel Bailey and cast member Ivan Oyik as they bring its themes of instituional racism, power play and mental health to Birmingham's Rep.
We speak to Birmingham-born experimental actress and spoken word poet Kate Joyner about performance piece 'The Blood Tales' and its part in re-wiring narratives of women’s moon blood prior to it's London & UK premiere on International Women's Day Friday 8 March 2019.
And we consider a celebration of contemporary plays by African women through a new collection of work from leading female playwrights with Dr Yvette Hutchison from the University of Warwick as our guide.
The New Curiosities Box is written and presented by James Sandy and is a King of the Buttons Production 2019 for Switch Radio.
