In this show we step 'Into the Shadows' by way of Poly Braden's current photo exhibition exploring the untold stories of those with autism and learning disabilities, we make it all up with some of the players from the Birmingham Improv Festival 2018 and catch up with playwright David Edgar as he's 'Trying it on' in his new stage performance at the MAC.
And...not a pumpkin in sight!

The Festival is celebrating its 3rd birthday in the city and has grown year on year from a weekend event in 2016 to 9 days of performances this year! A great endorsement reflecting the growing popularity of the Improvisation.
Troupes and performers from New York, Edinburgh, London, Birmingham, Bristol and more will be descending on the city for 9 days of comedy, fun and a bit of madness!

There's also some inspiring new events and music to keep you going through the season.

In July's second outing we reflect on the life and work of enigmatic songwriter Nick Drake through Tanworth in Arden's annual celebratory gathering, we go back to the show's roots as we catch up with Switch prior to the band's sunset performance at the MAC and there's time for murder by way of Graeme Rose's innovative theatre piece 'Fred Jeffs: The Sweetshop Murder'.

In this special show from this year's BE Festival 2018 we catch a glimpse of the City's annual celebration of arts, performance, theatre and dance as it reflects the soul of Europe in the heart of Birmingham. I quiz Kulu Orr on his mastery of gadgets and sound through performance piece 'Control Freak', seek comfort from the edges of danger as I explore the art of taking care of yourself with Marc Oosterhoff and gaze at the one-man- all audience musical threatrical spectacular that is Paul O'Donnell's 'We've got each other'.
BE Festival 2018 is produced by The Brimigham Repertory Theatre annually in July and is an innovative programme of theatre, dance, comedy, circus, music, visual, performing arts, workshops and backstage events. In this show we speak to Andrew Jackson about his Windrush inspired exhibition of photography 'From a small island' as it opens at MAC Birmingham, mingle with the crowd and get their take on its fresh perspective, we speak to some of the team behind The Rep's current production of 'Our Country's Good' and ramp up for the musically charged 'For-wards' project as it builds to a crescendo!
